A precarious moment for UK hospitality

Fourth has released new analysis into 2023 festive trading figures and workforce trends that are set to impact operators this year.

The report shares that customer demand has been surprisingly resilient and initial sales figures from the festive season are positive (+10.5% in December), despite Fourth’s data also showing that pubs and restaurants are operating with leaner teams (-5%) then 12 months ago.

High operating costs continue, and looming legislation like the implementation of new National Minimum Wage regulations are a major concern for the industry.
